Governance and network
The director manages our institution within the framework set out by the Board of Directors. He/ she is appointed for 5 years by the French Education Ministry on the recommendation of the Board of Directors. The Executive Committee contributes its expertise on all matters which fall within the authority of the director.
The Board of Directors is responsible for the academic and strategic decision-making and the overall direction to be taken by the institution. Representatives of our main stakeholders sit on this Board :
- Our founding universities, CY Cergy Paris Université and Université Versailles-Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines
- The faculty body
- The students body
- The administration body
- The local authorities such as the city of Saint-Germain-en-Laye and the department of Yvelines

Sciences Po Saint-Germain-en-Laye maintains a strong relationship with its two founding universities. In the current context of consolidation and globalization of the institutions of higher education, this backing gives our school incomparable access to resources and staff, and the opportunity to play a leading part in the teaching of Political Science in France and beyond.
A network of seven Sciences Po joining forces
Sciences Po Saint-Germain-en-Laye belongs to a national network of 7 ‘Instituts de Sciences Politiques’, known as ‘Sciences Po’. These 7 institutions share the same values of excellence, internationalization, professionalization and diversity.
This translates into a common and highly-selective entrance exam, and the possibility for each undergraduate to apply to any of the Master’s programs offered in the network… more than 130 today.
